Blog #4: Career Profile

I am studying for a computer science degree and there are thousands of jobs to choose from in this field.   In a growing technological society, jobs involving computers are becoming more and more important to keep up with new advancements.   One particular topic I am interested in involves creating games and other application media.   Specifically, I would like to be a video game developer or application developer. Getting a job like this usually require a particular skillset of a computer scientist.   Usually, companies want their workers to have knowledge of various programming languages, understanding how to use game modeling programs, artistic skills, and a dedication to the idea itself.  This means that most computer scientists can get involved in game development right out of college.  Getting a degree in this field teaches you a lot about the complexities of coding.    Some of the programming languages taught to students in...

Blog #1: Six-Word Memoir

An old-soul going towards his dreams That is a Polaroid of my girlfriend, Caitlin, and I from a couple weeks ago (Yes, it is a heart-wrenching story of love between Travis and Caitlin, I'm sure you are excited).  We have been dating for 5 years now and despite friends saying it was not going to work out because our schools separate us, we are still going strong and love each other very much.  We take Polaroid photos because nothing says "old-soul" like a Polaroid camera, but also because it combats the typical digital photos we take on our phones; it is a moment that you can actually hold in your hand (call me sentimental).  Furthermore, our relationship goes back to high school, sophomore year, when I finally built up the courage to officially ask her out after being friends since middle school.  Like any high school couple, we wanted to see if we could take the same classes to be together (how romantic), but unfortunately, we ended up only having one English c...
